More than 200 primary school children took part in Big Samba yesterday - an annual event launched in 2016 to tie in with the Rio Olympics.
Youngsters were given the chance to perform their Samba routines for an audience of more than 3,000 teachers. The Big Samba performance formed the closing ceremony for the first day of Teach First’s conference, held at Leeds’ First Direct Arena in the city centre. Guests included Couns Graham and Pat Latty, Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Leeds.Coun Latty said: “It’s been a genuine privilege to see so many talented young people taking to the stage with so much confidence and putting on such an accomplished performance.” Big Samba is supported by Leeds Music Education Partnership, the city’s music education hub.
