Sneak peek: Harrogate's quirky new bar

Pub lovers in Harrogate are eagerly awaiting a new concept bar that will open in town this May.

The Potting Shed Bar and Gardens will bring the outdoors in with its quirky, relaxed garden theme and famous Yorkshire food.

Following a £1.1 million refurbishment, the bar will be located on the former Rift and Co site at Montpellier Gardens in Harrogate town centre, boasting a brightly furnished outside seating area in addition to the indoor bar.

The new venue will be decked out with the Potting Shed’s distinctive outdoorsy style, featuring brightly-coloured wooden sheds and a private bench seating area, decorated with beautiful hanging baskets.

The bar will also include an indoor lawned area for guests to enjoy a taste of the outdoors with a roof over their heads.

Jade Renner, director at The Potting Shed, said she was delighted with the bar’s location and cannot wait to show the people of Harrogate what the bar has to offer.

She said: “We take a lot of care in finding all of our sites and this landmark building fits perfectly with our brand and gives us a great opportunity.”

Jade was keen to get the word out that The Potting Shed is family friendly, offering a bespoke children’s menu.

“Our bars are different. They’re fun, they welcome families and they are even dog friendly. So we are confident everyone will come and experience that for themselves once we open our doors,” said Jade.

The bar will specialise in craft beers, cocktails, artisan spirits and fresh homemade food. Fans of The Potting Shed will be happy to hear that their menu will feature the famous Yorkshire Burger, a meal that became a viral sensation on social media. The much sought after dish consists of a beef burger patty with bacon and melted Yorkshire Blue cheese, served between two Yorkshire puddings in place of a burger bun.

Along with a one, two or three course roast on Sundays, the bar will serve hearty pub food, pizzas, sandwiches, light bites, and mouthwatering desserts, throughout the week.

The bar will host regular drink offers from Sunday to Thursday, with two classic cocktails for £12 and £10 of bottles of wine after 5pm. Plus, there will be a weekly Fizz Friday with discounts on prosecco and champagne in the evening.

The Potting Shed brand has already enjoyed success in towns across Yorkshire. Its owners, Ormsborough Ltd, are concept bar specialists, already running thriving establishments in Bingley, Beverly, Guiseley and Northallerton.
