Slip road closed after lorry’s tyres set on fire
Fire crews were called to the northbound slip road of the Wetherby junction on the A1 this morning after a lorry’s wheels caught fire.
The incident happened at 6.49am, the lorry was said to be carrying dolomite, a kind of crystal used in the production of glass windows. Crews from Whetherby and Harrogate attended and the fire was out by around 7am, only the slip road being closed for a short while.
