Six people require treatment following house fire
Six people needed treatment after a fire broke out at a house in Featherstone in the early hours of this morning.
Crews were called to Verner Street shortly after 4.30am after the blaze started in the kitchen of the mid-terrace home.
One person was rescued by the neighbours, and two more had managed to flee the property.
Six people, three from the property and three from next door, suffered smoke inhalation.
They were treated at the scene by ambulance crews, but did not attend hospital.
The fire crews from Featherstone, Pontefract and Normanton used two breathing apparatus and a hose-reel jet to extinguish the flames.
Around 20 per cent of the kitchen was damaged by the flames, according to West Yorkshire Fire ans Rescue Service.
