Family festival, York, March 25-28

Roll up, roll up! If it’s family fun you’re after this Easter, then look no further than York. There will be free children’s activities galore, Watch a chocolate demo, have your face painted, create an Easter egg, unleash your artistic side or get active; there will be plenty to do.

Vintage fairground attractions, from Lunchbox Theatrical Productions, will be offering fun for children at St Sampson’s Square, offering old favourites such as hook a duck and Muffin the Mule. Street food suppliers will be selling tasty treats all along Parliament Street. See: visityork.org

43rd Youth Festival, Harrogate March 27

The Harrogate International Youth Festival of Music and Performing Arts is a unique music and performing arts festival that provides young musicians with the opportunity to come together and perform alongside other groups and ensembles from the UK and around the world.

With performances stretching over five days in some of Yorkshire’s finest venues, including Ripley Castle, Newby Hall, Ripon Cathedral and Fountains Abbey, there is something for everyone. Enjoy some jazz, big band, choral singing, dancing and more over the course of this must-see festival.

Edwardian Festival, Hull March 26

Families will be able to step back in time as part of the Edwardian Easter celebrations later this month.

The Edwardian Easter Fete and Market, now in its third year, will take place at the Museums Quarter, Hull, High Street on Saturday March 26, from 10am-4pm.

There will be period performers, traditional market stalls, music acts, helter skelter, Punch and Judy shows, free craft activities and face painting will entertain the whole family.

Easter bunny, Leeds Museums

You’re in for a treat this year as the Easter Bunny makes his rounds and visits four of our museums; you will find him giving out treats at Leeds City Museum, Abbey House Museum, Thwaite Mills Watermill and Lotherton Hall.

While over at Temple Newsam or Abbey House Museum you can craft your very own Easter bonnet or be inspired by spring animals and make something special.

Easter Joust, Royal Armouries

After last year’s sell out success the Royal Armouries museum in the heart of Leeds will celebrate its 20th anniversary with its 20th Easter Tournament. Fans will be able to enjoy the thrills and spills of authentic medieval jousting, the original extreme sport and come face-to-face with our tournament collection of arms and armour at the Royal Armouries museum.
