The calls have been heard loud and clear. One music lover's campaign to restore the axed Silent Disco to the line up at Leeds Festival has paid off.

Backed by the Yorkshire Evening Post, fashion student Laura Foster, 20, has got her wish after her online petition aimed at event organisers Festival Republic was backed by more than 1,000 people.

Leeds Festival broke the news on Twitter this evening, tweeting: “You spoke, we listened. The silent disco will be back at Leeds for 2016!”

“Thank you... Dreams come true”, a delighted Miss Foster tweeted back.

Prior to the 2015 festival, the Silent Disco took part in a giant marquee where DJs would play a mix of chart-toppers and cheesy hits, which revellers would listen to through wireless headphones.

But last year festival goers were left disappointed when Festival Republic removed the Disco from the Festival, which takes place at Bramham Park every August.
