Shots fired at house in Harehills after street fight

A property in Harehills was blasted with a shotgun last night.

The incident happened on Ashton Avenue just after 11.42pm.

Adam Chadwick detectives renew appeal for information 10 years after he was shot deadArmed officers were sent to the scene and damage consistent with a shotgun discharge was found to the outside the property.

A street fight was reported on nearby Ashton Street around 45 minutes beforehand and police are investigating whether it was connected to the shooting.

The incident comes on the same day as a high-profile police appeal into the unsolved murder of Adam Chadwick, a 20-year-old who was shot on the doorstep of his sister's house on Clifton Mount in 2008. Members of Adam's family spoke to the media in Harehills on the 10th anniversary of his death to ask anyone with information on his killers' identities to come forward.

A police statement read:

"There was no-one in the house when officers arrived and nobody was injured. Contact has since been made with the occupant to check on their welfare.

"Witnesses reported seeing two males approach the property and fire the weapon before running off along Ashton Avenue and turn right onto Harehills Road.

"A scene is in place to undergo forensic examination and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
