The roads earmarked for the improvements are Calverley Street, Portland Street, East Parade and Oxford Place/Great George Street. Work will also take place on the inbound side of Park Lane from 9pm to 5.30am from May 27 to June 3.

Diversions will be signposted and information on alternative bus routes will be provided at affected stops.

Calverley Street, East Parade and Great George Street form part of the course for next month’s Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon. Council bosses say the work will help ensure safe surface conditions for competitors.
