Redcote Lane incident: Man found dead near Leeds Liverpool Canal as police cordon off area

A man has been found dead next to a path in Leeds this morning (Saturday).

Police were called to Redcote Lane, near the Leeds Liverpool Canal, at 5.53am after a member of the public discovered the body.

The road and path were cordoned off by officers and a tent erected on Redcote Lane.

Crime Scene Investigators were sent to the area but it was established that there were no suspicious circumstances.

The road has now reopened.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 5.53am today police were called to Redcote Lane, Leeds, where a man had been found dead next to a path.

"It was established there were no suspicious circumstances and the Coroner’s Office has been informed."
