Probe begins into cause of house fire in Leeds

An investigation has begun into the cause of a house fire in Leeds which left one man suffering from smoke inhalation.

Firefighters from Hunslet and Leeds were initially called to St Hilda's Crescent in Cross Green at around 1.15pm today.

It had been reported that a three storey detached house was on fire, with someone potentially trapped inside.

They used two hose reels and breathing apparatus while putting out the fire, before clearing smoke with high pressure fans.

The fire service said one man had been treated for smoke inhalation and left in the care of Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

Meanwhile, a fire investigation officer is currently at the scene to being work into establishing the cause.
