Power cut in nearly 300 Leeds homes as residents faced with no electricity for seven hours

Nearly 300 homes in Leeds have been hit by a power cut this morning.

Northern Powergrid has reported a major outage in Holbeck, LS11, with 210 homes left without electricity since 5am.

The power cut has been caused by an unexpected problem with an electricity cable in the area.

Engineers are working to solve the problem and have estimated that power will be restored by 2pm.

Northern Powergrid said: "We are currently working hard to restore your power however we are unable to provide an accurate restoration time.

"Please call us on 105 if you have any specific questions."

A separate power cut has been reported in Queenswood, LS6, with 80 homes left without power.

The outage has been caused by a problem with cables and equipment and was first reported at 8am.

Northern Powergrid said power should be restored in this area by 11.30am.
