Yorkshire pub chain Stew and Oyster has decided to shut one of its Leeds venues.

Posting on their Facebook page, the Otley bar and restaurant said they would be shutting up shop after three years of trading.

It closed for good on Sunday, January 5.

"We would like to thank all of those who have supported us and hope you will visit our other sites," staff wrote.

"All guests who have pre-paid for events will be contacted and a full refund given."

The pub was based in The Old Grammar School building in Manor Square.

The other venues - Calls Landing in Leeds city centre, Oakwood, Boston Spa, Malton in North Yorkshire and Kelham Island in Sheffield - remain open.

Regulars said they were "gutted" at the news.

Another said: "Thoroughly enjoyed every meal I’ve had there and I’m deeply disappointed that this decision has been taken as it’s a huge loss to Otley."

Otley Pub Club said on their Facebook page on Monday: "You've heard the rumours about closure by now I'm sure. Well sadly they're true. The pub closed its doors for good on Sunday Jan 5, and we managed to discuss it with them today.

"Otley Pub Club will be making a longer statement about our appreciation of Stew & Oyster later in the week, but in the meantime we were told that our Premier members will be welcome to use their cards to gain a 10 percent discount on food and drink if they ever visit any of the other five Stew & Oyster locations."
