Proving extremely popular last year, large crowds are expected to return this year.

Becca Ahmed, member of OTRA (Oakwood Traders and Residents Association) said the event will be “another popular Oakwood Day offering free family fun in celebration of the iconic Oakwood clock restoration and heritage”.

Guests can expect to rock around the clock to musical talent performed by local bands including Roundhay Primary and St John’s Primary, Roundhay Ukulele Group, Leeds Youth Opera Singers and the Trapfield Tribe.

Street food will also be served all day and will see local vendors offering the likes of handmade pizzas, burgers and Indian cuisine. Locally-brewed beer and cider will also be available.

Glitter face-painting, free craft workshops, tug of war competitions and hook a duck will serve as child friendly entertainment.

This will be the fourth annual Oakwood Day. The event began back in 2015 in order to celebrate the newly refurbished Oakwood Clock.

After two years of fundraising and receiving donations from The Heritage Lottery Fund and local residents, the clock underwent a £270,000 renovation. The monument has stood in the Oakwood area for over 100 years.

Oakwood Day will run from noon until 7pm on April 28. Entry is free and open to all.
