'Why Leeds LibDems are ready to put the council back on track' - Coun Stewart Golton
The Yorkshire Evening Post has asked major political parties for their manifesto in the run up to the Local Election in Leeds. Coun Stewart Golton, Liberal Democrat Group Leader at Leeds City Council, tells us the party’s priorities for the city.
It’s a real privilege to be elected to serve the community.

Our LibDem team across the city take that responsibility seriously.
When it comes to taking on the problems we face, people tell me it feels like other parties are just interested in looking for a fight, whereas local LibDems go looking for solutions.
It’s the duty of those in charge to make sure our taxpayer money is spent well. The good news is there is hope!
The Liberal Democrats are ready to take over the reins at Leeds Civic Hall, and spend our rates better.
After listening to local residents we offered more alternatives to Labour Leeds’ budget than any other party, at no extra cost to the public.
Here’s the improvements we could make right now with not a penny extra on the Council Tax!:
Doorstep food waste collection turned into green energy;
33 extra Police Community Support Officers tackling crime;
33 new enforcement officers focussing on nuisance parking;
More cutting edge pothole filling machines for quicker repairs;
More enforcement of illegal graffiti and night time noise;
More money for winter gritting;
Investment in lighting, access and safety improvements in local parks;
and a Disabled mobility fund for disabled spaces, dropped kerbs and scooter access.
