Streets and entrance ways are set to become more pedestrian-friendly and new cycle lanes will be added.
New Station Street will be completely pedestrianised, meaning the taxi rank and bus stops will be moved.
It is hoped this will make it easier to walk in the area and create a direct route between the station entrance and the South Bank.
Seating will also be installed in this area, as well as improvements such as constrating floor materials to help people with visual impairments.
Taxi services will be relocated to Bishopgate Street.
The rank can be accessed by two 21-passenger lifts.
Bus services will be relocated to Boar Lane.
Cycling infrastructure will be installed on Neville Street, Dark Neville Street (the dark arches) and Bishopgate.
The improvements will be delivered by Leeds City Council, in partnership with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Network Rail as land owner, via the Department for Transport’s Transforming Cities Fund.
Work is due to be completed in 2023.
