An electric vehicle charging point and new roofing canopy was proposed for the pub in Selby Road.

Hospitality firm Mitchells and Butlers sought permission from Leeds City Council for the scheme.

A design report said: “The proposed works seek to ensure the public house will continue to be a vibrant destination, assisting in helping to retain and attract new patrons.

“The proposed alterations have been designed to preserve and respect the existing fabric of the existing public house whilst providing much needed updates to provide patrons with a better customer experience to support the site’s viability.”

A council planning officer’s report said the upgrade would not cause any harm to surrounding green belt land.

It said: “The proposal is not expected to generate any residential amenity concerns and will be served by sufficient onsite car parking provisions including sufficient space allocations for disabled car parking.”

Council planners formally approved a full planning application on July 29.
