Four floodlit padel courts planned at popular Leeds garden centre
Four floodlit courts and a picnic area are proposed for land at Garforth Garden Centre
Garden centre shoppers could enjoy games of padel tennis if plans for a new sports centre are approved.

Four floodlit courts and a picnic area are proposed for land at Garforth Garden Centre on Selby Road.
Sports firm Yorkshire Padel is seeking planning permission from Leeds City Council for the scheme.
A design report said the project would boost visitor numbers to the centre and promote health and well being.
It said: “In addition to the courts the proposal includes a parking area for cars and bicycles, and picnic style seating area for those using the courts.”
LED floodlighting would be installed on the courts to enable evening padel games.
The report said timers would be installed to ensure the lights were only used during agreed hours.
It said: “The lights will be directional and designed to focus illumination onto the playing surface, limiting the light spill beyond the site boundary.”
The report said use of the land for padel courts would not harm surrounding green belt land.
It said: “The development is limited in scale and comprises predominantly open-air recreational use, with associated infrastructure kept to a minimum.”
Leeds City Council is considering a full planning application which is out for consultation until June 22.
