Emergency repairs close Leeds Council's Merrion House after building floods

Leeds City Council's city centre hub has been forced to close today due to flooding in the building.

Merrion House, in Merrion Way, is closed to the public and staff while urgent repairs are carried out.

In a message sent to staff on Sunday night, the council instructed employees not to attend the office on Monday due to the flooding.

In a tweet, the council's employee communications service said: "Although little damage from the water leak, the power has been isolated and fire safety systems until checked.

"If you need to collect equipment from the building today Facilities Management are there to assist, but you’ll need to work elsewhere."

Members of the public who had appointments at the community hub have been advised to contact the council online to rearrange their booking.
