Residents in parts of Cookridge including Moseley Wood Drive and Moseley Wood Gardens were due to have green bins collected on Saturday.

But heavy snow on Friday and Saturday meant bin lorries never turned up and residents are still awaiting their collection.

Heavy snow and ice have caused several areas including Cookridge and Holt Park to have their bins missed for collection.

The council has assured residents that missing bins will be picked up in the next few days.

Leeds City Council told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “Due to the significant snow fall and issues with black ice last week and over the weekend, there have been missed bin collections in different parts of the city.

“The Cookridge, Tinshill and Holt Park area was especially hit by the weather conditions. Recovery collections have been scheduled and most of Friday’s and Saturday’s collections have now been caught up, on top of the scheduled collections for today.

“One exception is the Moseley Woods area which will be undertaken tomorrow. The task facing crews is made even more challenging due to the amount of waste being presented following the Christmas period and as we are now in Lockdown 3.

“There do however remain some streets to revisit from Saturday and today, and so would ask those residents to leave out their bins for a couple more days.

“We would like to apologise to residents for any inconvenience caused and also take the opportunity to once thank the people of Leeds for their continued support to our crews as they continue to work in very difficult conditions due to the challenges of coronavirus.”
