Plans to build 45 new affordable homes

Leeds Federated Housing Association has received planning permission to build 45 affordable homes at Greenview Mount, Gipton.

The 2, 3 and 4-bedroom homes will be a mix of Shared ownership and rent-to-buy* properties to help people get on the housing ladder. The houses will be built on vacant land owned by Leeds Federated.

Construction work is expected to start in spring 2018 with the homes completed in autumn 2019.

The homes are part of Leeds Federated’s Shared Ownership Affordable Homes Programme 2016 - 21 which is partly funded by £1.5 million in grant funding from the Homes and Communities Agency. Leeds Federated is also working in partnership with Leeds City Council on the scheme.

Leeds Federated’s Head of Assets and Development, Stephen Ellis said: “The development at Greenview Mount will provide much-needed affordable homes in Gipton. We are passionate about doing what we can to help meet the demand in the Leeds City Region for homes for affordable sale and affordable rent. Leeds Federated has significantly expanded its development plans and will build 750 new homes over the next five years.”

The properties were designed by Acanthus WSM Architects with Cushman & Wakefield appointed as Employers Agent.

*Rent-to-buy – Tenants pay a subsidised rent for a few years to help them save up for a mortgage deposit with the aim of buying the property.
