And one man who knows that better than most is Peter Benefer, from West Park in Leeds.

Peter fosters the cute woodland creatures on behalf of Herby Hedgehog Emergency Rescue in Bingley.

He made headlines last year when he donated his £1,000 winnings from Channel 4 show Come Dine With Me to the rescue centre. Now Peter is set to make a return to the pages of the YEP, with his wildlife work featuring as the subject of a special photo essay in tomorrow’s edition of the paper.
