Person trapped inside car after crash on M1 motorway near Leeds

Emergency services rescued a person who was trapped inside a vehicle after a crash on the M1 motorway near Leeds.

The person was released by fire crews and then passed over to paramedics on the scene.

The crash which occurred at around 3.30pm today (Sunday) involved one car.

It happened between Junctions 42 and 43 Southbound near Leeds - just before the M62 junction.

Two fire appliances from Hunslet and an appliance and technical rescue vehicle from Cleckheaton attended the scene.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Road traffic collision involving 1 car on the motorway. 1 casualty trapped in the vehicle, extricated by fire crew and passed over to waiting paramedics.

"Appliances from Hunslet x2, Cleckheaton and the Technical Rescue Vehicle from Cleckheaton attended.

Location: M1 Junctions 43 - 42 Southbound"
