Yorkshire Water release urgent update after 'major burst' water main floods Harehills

Yorkshire Water has released an urgent update for Leeds residents - after a 'major burst' water main flooded parts of Harehills.

A report of low water pressure and loss of water was posted by Yorkshire Water on their live map shortly before 8pm.

The report stated: "We're really sorry but customers may have low pressure or no water in the area.

"We're investigating the problem urgently.

"Once restored, water may be cloudy or discoloured, this will return to normal shortly after and you can help clear this by running your tap for a few minutes."

Yorkshire Water said they "are aware of the issue and would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused".

Residents took to Twitter to ask Yorkshire Water for help - with many saying they had no water from their taps on Wednesday night.

One said: "We have no water at all, what can we do?"

Another added: "My supply has completely stopped.

"The street outside has flooded."

Now, Yorkshire Water has tweeted an update for residents after the 'major burst' main left residents without water.

The update said: "We are aware of an issue in #MarkhamAvenue due to a major burst customers may be experiencing no water, we are really sorry about this and we are working hard to get your supplies restored as quickly as we can.

"Updates to follow."

In a statement provided to the Yorkshire Evening Post, a spokesperson added: "We’ve received reports of a burst on Harehills Road and we’re treating it as an emergency.

"Our technicians are on site closing valves before they start rerouting water supplies and getting everyone’s water back on.

"We’ll continue to provide updates on our website and Twitter."
