Many played music from their car speakers and even brought balloons and presents for him.

Caroline let her neighbours know about the 10-minute procession before it took place and stuck to Covid guidelines.

Speaking exclusively to the Yorkshire Evening Post, she said: "He was really missing [his friends] with school being cancelled.

"We needed a way of doing this safely within lockdown guidelines and being respectful of our neighbours.

"It was just close family and best friends, all of whom are very local.

"Most live on our estate and kids go to school with Harry.

"We kept it to only eight cars so it was easily manageable and easy to organise and so it didn’t risk drawing any adverse attention due to the Covid situation.

"We sent a note to all the neighbours to forewarn them that there would be a convoy coming onto the road and some loud music and beeping."

Caroline's husband Nick even created a hand drawn map to let neighbours know about the event.

She added: "Harry’s friends passed him along cards and presents and in return we gave them the party bags and cake through the car windows.

"Their faces when they saw each other for the first time in weeks was priceless

"Each car then drove off, making a bit more noise and fuss on their way off."

"It was last minute but we organised a small “Drive by Birthday”.... COVID secure ...

"He absolutely loved it!"

One user said: "Love this, what a fantastic idea. Made me a tad emotional watching it."

Another added: "Brilliant idea, something he will probably never forget."

Caroline said: "We’re not huge users of social media but got loads of great feedback from our friends and those involved so we decided to create a short video and post it online so maybe a few other mums and dads could do something similar for their kids and create a lasting memory out of a really difficult situation."
