"I would recommend it, definitely," she said. "I don't have to go out when it's bad weather. It comes through in the morning and gives you some of what's going on in the world and in Leeds as well. It's not that I like what's going on, but I do like to know."

Having moved to Leeds with her family just before the Second World War, she has called the city home for almost her whole life and raised her own children here.

Now a great grandmother, she'll often pass on her copy of the paper or share particular articles with relatives when she sees items that she knows will interest them.

She said: "I sometimes give my daughter-in-law a copy if there's an article in the paper - it moves on. I cut out articles and will say 'you've got to read this'. I wouldn't do without either paper.
