Paul said: "The pictures are of Benidorm this evening.

"Every bar and restaurant is shut, only supermarkets and some pharmacies are open at present.

"There is a heavy police presence and nobody is allowed on the beach or promenade yet they are still gathering in other public areas, until the police move them on that is.

"Shops are still selling alcohol for now but I can see that changing.

"From such a busy bustling place to this in just 24 hours is quite shocking to see really.

"People seem to be making the most of a bad situation for now."

Pictures provided to the Yorkshire Evening Post show police on Benidorm beach.

Streets have been deserted and Paul said the area is empty.
