Wakefield lottery player finally claims £1million prize after appeal to find them
The mystery winner has been found
A previously unclaimed £1 million winning Lotto ticket, purchased in Wakefield, has now been claimed by its owner.
An appeal was launched after the lucky ticket holder failed to come forward.
The winning ticket, bought in the city for the National Lottery draw on Wednesday, August 5, matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball, securing a £1 million prize.

This claim adds to a successful month for Lotto players, with August already seeing 20 millionaires created.
Lynn Devlin, Winner’s Experience Lead at Allwyn, the operator of The National Lottery, expressed delight that the winner has now come forward.
"We're delighted that the mystery winner has now come forward to claim their £1m prize," she stated.
"It must be an extraordinary feeling to go from not knowing you've won to discovering you're a millionaire and starting what promises to be a life-changing journey," Devlin added.
She also noted that this winner joins others, including a player who recently claimed a £4.3 million jackpot from the August 19 draw.
"It's been a remarkable few weeks for Lotto, and we're excited to support these winners as they begin the next chapter of their lives," Devlin continued.
All major prize claims undergo a validation process to ensure compliance with Games Rules and Terms and Conditions, safeguarding the integrity of The National Lottery.
Following successful validation, prizes are paid out via appointments with Allwyn Winners’ Advisers. Ticket holders then have the discretion to decide whether to share their news publicly.
