From Victoria-era constructions to more modern builds that have changed the shape of our city, here are 13 landmarks which we think are the most recognisable to people living here.
13. Royal Armouries Museum
The Royal Armouries Museum opened in 1996 and was the first among many buildings built in the same era that saw Leeds Dock brought back to life. The distinctive building is home to the national collection of arms and armour.Visitors can explore arms and armour from across the world and throughout time in its six themed galleries. 14. Leeds Corn Exchange
Now home to a fantastic variety of independent businesses, Leeds Corn Exchange was completed in 1864. The architect of the Leeds city centre landmark was Cuthbert Brodrick, who also designed the Town Hall. It is one of only three corn exchanges in the UK which still operate as trading centres. The original function was as a gathering place for farmers and merchants to trade grain. Photo: Simon Hulme
