Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and subsequent restrictions in Leeds, you are not allowed to enter into other people’s gardens unless already bubbled with the household.

Therefore, organisers of the Pudsey Pumpkin Festival have discouraged trick or treating this year - instead urging people to follow their interactive trail.

A map has designed to be a trail of Halloween houses to look at rather than a trick or treaters route.

Organisers have suggested parents bring sweets whilst following the map and "give a treat to your children after every house, in order to emulate traditional trick or treating as best you can".

Organiser Dawn Seary - wife of Pudsey councillor Simon - told the Yorkshire Evening Post the idea for the pumpkin festival interactive map came from her son Tomas.

She said: "I’ve always loved Halloween and really looked forward to decorating our garden and seeing all the trick or treaters so when Covid-19 made it look like Halloween will be different this year and seeing comments on social media pages asking for guidance, I thought that we could maybe organise a trail along the lines of rainbows in the window during lockdown.

"My son Tomas worked on the technicalities and before we knew it we had a map!

"The idea is that you can plan a walk around your neighbourhood and you can walk as far or as near as you like.

"You can find the houses getting involved in decorating for Halloween this year using our map.

"We had a few glitches to start with mainly because we had to switch to a different programme as we had so many houses wanting to be involved!

"We suggest that instead of trick or treating, you plan your walk and reward your children once they spot a garden or a pumpkin.

"And we remind you to please follow the government advice regarding coronavirus whilst on the trail."
