Residents of Calverley have been left outraged after fairy doors and houses were ripped from the trees in Calverley Woods.

However, one resident told the YEP she discovered the doors had been ripped down from the trunks and dumped in a pile at the bottom of the woods, near Leeds Liverpool canal.

The trail runs across Calverley, the resident said.

She added: "I spotted yesterday that someone has ripped down most of the fairy garden houses in the woods.

Too neatly stacked to be bored kids I think.

"Someone has left the more subtle wooden ones and taken the rest down."

After she posted pictures of the damage to a local Facebook forum, other residents shared their dismay at why anyone would ruin the display.

One resident said: "Why would they do that? So cruel."

Another added: "Shocking. We can't have anything now."
