NHS in Leeds issue urgent warning after cervical screening text scam

The NHS in Leeds has warned of a text message scam regarding cervical screening.

Some women are being contacted by text message, claiming to be from Public Health England’s ‘call and recall’ service, advising them that they are overdue for their cervical screening test.

The recipient is asked to call a mobile number and provide personal details.

These messages are not sent from the NHS cervical screening programme and are potentially fraudulent, the NHS in Leeds said.

This activity has been reported to the Action Fraud Line.

Anyone who receives a text such as this should not reply or provide personal details, and all instances can be reported to the police via the non-urgent 101 number.
