Mystery surrounded a marriage proposal rejection at Trinity Leeds today.

Many shoppers spotted the man 'proposing' to a woman on the balcony of the Trinity Leeds.

However, Leeds city centre visitors were left in shock when the woman brushed aside the approach before storming away.

One bystander posted: "Just seen a man get rejected in front of everyone.

"He must be absolutely gutted!"

Another added: "Can't believe what I have just seen - a man is stood head in hands after his potential wife-to-be said no to his proposal."

The mystery of the rejection has now been solved.

@ForForkSake - an online dining community - staged the proposal, they revealed.
