Mum of 18-year-old who tragically died in The Warehouse Leeds opens beauty lounge in her honour

Courtney Chamberlain, 18, from Pudsey, collapsed while clubbing at The Warehouse in Leeds city centre in the early hours of Monday August 26.

She was taken to hospital but sadly died a short time later.

Now, her courageous mum Joanne Foley, 38, has spoken to the Yorkshire Evening Post about how she has fought through a "heartbreaking and traumatic year" to open a beauty lounge in the name of her much loved daughter.

Joanne said she had lost her "daughter, best friend and only child" when Courtney died.

She told the Yorkshire Evening Post that she needed a focus to keep her going.

Courtney always dreamed of opening a salon with her mum so to keep her memory alive, Joanne has now opened 'Courtney's Beauty Lounge' on Stanningley Road in Pudsey.

Joanne explained: "It's been a truly heartbreaking and traumatic year trying to find my way after losing my daughter, my best friend and only child.

"I needed a focus to keep me going.

"We always dreamt about opening our own salon and my purpose now is to keep Courtney's memory alive and make her dreams come true.

"So I decided to follow this dream and open Courtney's Beauty Lounge.

"A place of beauty to remember the most beautiful girl in the world."

The beauty lounge has been designed entirely around Courtney, who studied make up at college and was described as a "fairy godmother" with a brush in her hand by Joanne.

Joanne continued: "We have created a large lit up make up area which she would love and the salon is decorated in all Courtney's favourite colours pinks and rose gold.

"The light features represent three generations Courtney, me and my amazing Mum."

Joanne said the beauty lounge will also fundraise in the name of Charlie's Angel Centre Foundation - who have been with the family "every step of the way".

She added: "They are a charity who support bereaved parents and the only bereaved parents centre in the UK we fundraise them and will be the headline sponsors at their charity ball next year.

"The support from everyone has been phenomenal and overwhelming and I would like to thank everyone who has been part of this journey and for helping me make Courtney's dreams come true."

Courtney's Beauty Lounge has now opened on Stanningley Road in Courtney's hometown of Pudsey, Leeds.
