Major power cut of more than 2,000 Leeds homes and city centre businesses

A major power cut has hit Leeds city centre - with issues reported across 11 postcodes in the city.

The power cut has been caused by an unexpected problem with the cables or equipment that serve the areas, according to the live map.

According to the map, the following postcodes have all lost power:

LS1,

LS8,

LS9,

LS11,

LS14,

LS15,

LS17,

LS18,

LS2,

LS22,

LS24,

LS27

Northern Powergrid took to social media to warn customers of the outage across more than 2000 properties.

The power is due to be restored in Leeds by 10am, Northern Powergrid said.

However, they said power is restored in 90% of affected properties within 90 minutes on average.

Northern Powergrid said: "Our team are working hard to restore your power as quickly as possible."
