Leeds woman reunited with stranger who saved her from horrifying black ice fall after she couldn't remember his name

Earlier this week, Vicky Gregson told the YEP about an accident she had when walking along the Ring Road Shadwell in North Leeds on February 10.

She crossed the road to avoid snow which was still on the path, but just after she had crossed onto the other side of the A6120, she slipped over on black ice and 'crushed' her ankle.

The 42-year-old said that "luckily a really nice man" had found her, and that she wanted to thank him but she couldn't remember his name.

He had given her a lift to the hospital and dropped Vicky in the doorway while he moved his car.

She started to feel light headed so asked someone to take her inside as she didn't want to fall again and because no visitors are allowed in the hospital, she never saw him again.

Vicky said: "I didn't have the chance to properly thank him but I don't know what I'd have done if he hadn't have found me.

"I have the name Bradley in my mind but I really don't know who he is.

"All I know is I'm really lucky that he was there because I panicked."

Just two days after Vicky's story was published, said Bradley got in touch with the YEP to say that he was the said 'Bradley' and he asked us to put them in contact so he could see how she was doing.

The pair have now had a reunion over the phone, and Vicky was thankful for their "lovely chat" and was so glad she could thank him for saving her.

Bradley Marshall lives in Harrogate and works as a property developer for Springwell in Leeds.

He joked that Vicky sounds a lot better now than when he first met her.

The 29-year-old said: "It was nice to hear that although she is awaiting surgery, she sounds a lot better than when I met her last week!

"I actually saw her slip on the ice from quite a distance, and could tell quite quickly that she had done something very bad to her leg.

"As I got nearer I found that her foot seemed to be facing the wrong way.

"The ground was also extremely slippery, and getting her up off the ground was tricky.

"I quickly called the ambulance and had to use the “What Three Words” app to give them our location, as I wasn’t sure how to describe it exactly.

"Unfortunately the ambulance was going to take too long as Vicky had fallen into a puddle that was underneath the ice, and it was at least -3 degrees outside.

"I was thankful to the police who stopped and assisted, as well as other people who stopped to provide blankets.

"Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to wish her well, so thank you for helping us get in touch!"

Vicky, who lives in Alwoodley - merely a five to ten minute walk from where she fell - broke all three bones in her ankle.

Vicky was taken to hospital straight after her fall and after surgery was not possible on February 11, she was told she would be able to go home and return for the operation in around 10 days when the swelling had gone down.
