He said a couple of sales have fallen through with the last one failing due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Mr Goodridge, a self employed consultant in the building industry, is wanting to move to a new home in Leeds with his family.

Raffle tickets cost £2 and one lucky person could win the house, which has five double bedrooms, four bathrooms and five reception rooms.

Mr Goodridge decided to raffle the house after reading how Dale and Kathy Tate of Ossett, Wakefield, recently successfully raffled off their home and car through an online auction site.

Mr Goodridge has pledged to make a substantial donation to ward 52 on the Clarendon Wing at the children's hospital at Leeds General Infirmary.

Mr Goodrige said: "I said to myself, once we have sold the house I will make as big a donation as I can. It depends on how many tickets are sold, but I'm hoping it's tens of thousands of pounds."

A total of 500,000 tickets are available in the raffle, which ends on October 30.

The Raffall website states: "The house was built in 1868 for a wealthy local mill owner on a tree lined road locally known as millionaires row, overlooking the beautiful park."
