The interview, which airs in the UK on ITV tonight at 9pm, saw the couple make a number of revelations, including that concerns were raised in the palace about the colour of baby Archie’s skin and Meghan having suicidal thoughts.

The reaction to the interview from Yorkshire Evening Post readers has been divided.

“I just wish Harry and Meghan all the best,” wrote Laurence Western on Facebook. “They’re a lovely couple.”

In the interview Prince Harry said he was worried that his wife would meet the same fate as his mother Diana, who was killed in a car accident whilst being chased by paparazzi in 1997.

Sharon Grace commented: “Suppose for a minute that everything they’re saying is true! Just look how Diana was treated. She kept quiet until it was too late. They’d broken her. She was bulimic and very, very unhappy. In the end she died tragically. Why on earth should anyone put up with that treatment and not speak out!

“The royal family are not what they’re portrayed to be and it’s maybe time it changed. They’re not untouchable any more. Times are different. Good on Harry for sticking by his wife and not wimping out like Charles did on Diana!”

Gillian Lodge said: “Hmmm two sides to every story. Would like to hear what the palace has to say!”

The interview comes just ten days after Harry spoke to James Corden for ‘The Late Late Show’ and many are wondering why they are doing public interviews after moving to LA for more privacy.

“What happened to them wanting to be out of the lime light living a private life?! Wonder how much they got?” wrote Elizabeth Binks.

Gary Bley said: “First world drama....there are people wondering if they can find enough clean drinking water...that is the life and death drama that deserves our attention.”

Andrew James commented: “Those who want to remove the monarchy. Look at the figures. They make money for the UK. That’s in a variety of ways, but go visit Buckingham Palace and see how many international tourists are just there, that's hotels, taxis, tour guides, planes, airlines, airports and a myriad [of] other incomes.”

Corrine Homer said: "She is a very good actress and totally controlled the situation. She was never going to settle for royal duties when you can make millions back in the USA. And she never said anything about her family or Harry all one sided.. And to disrespect the Queen like that is disgusting"

Valerie Martinez said: "They should be made pay back the money for their tax payers wedding if they were already married.. she is biggest narcissist Diana wouldn't have liked her."
