Leeds hotel manager pledges to run 5k every day for a year to support charities

A Leeds hotel manager has pledged to run 5k a day for a whole year to raise money for two charities.

Daniel Kristof, 25, is already in the second week of his challenge, which he hopes will raise at least £5,000.

Daniel - who is a duty manager at the Clayton Hotel - will split the money equally between The Team Hill Charitable Trust and Destination Florida Children’s Charity.

He said: “In early February, there was lots of activity on social media, where the statement ‘Be Kind’ trended throughout various platforms and media outlets – I found this time extremely powerful and wanted to do something that stood out, pushing myself out of my comfort zone and putting myself in the heart of local charity initiatives.

“That’s when I confronted my good friend, Steve Hill, with the idea of running a 5k every day for a year, in aid of his charity, plus another one (Destination Florida). He thought it was a great idea, whereas my family thought I was crazy.”

Daniel will be organising other fundraising ideas, such as raffles, group runs and sponsored coffee mornings, to help him reach his target. Daniel, who lives in Rochdale, will be documenting his journey on his page The Running Manc.

Daniel added: “I want to show people that it’s possible to do anything if you put your mind to it.

“I’m hardly athletic and have no previous experience of running for this period of time, therefore I am going to take every day as it comes and really cherish every moment!

“It will be difficult, mentally and physically, although the charities are at the forefront of my challenge and continue to motivate me daily.”
