Leeds General Infirmary and St James' Hospital issue urgent update on A&E capacity

An urgent update on the A&E capacity at the LGI and at St James' Hospital in Leeds has been issued.

The update said that the accident and emergency departments at the two Leeds hospitals are 'extremely busy'.

It added that if you are not seriously ill, A&E might not be the best place for you to get the treatment you need as you 'may wait for a long time'.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust are encouraging people to call NHS 111 if in doubt about the service they need and are directing patients to the NHS 111 website.
