Leeds event delivers more than 400 winter coats to homelessness charity Simon on the Streets

Leeds store Accent Clothing teamed up with luxury Canadian brand Nobis and homeless charity Simon on the Streets for a coat drive charity event with a difference.

More than 400 warm winter coats were donated and have been distributed to the homeless by charity Simon on the Streets. On top of that, more than £1,300 was raised selling raffle tickets with some incredible prizes handed out on the night.

The event was attended by over 200 guests, including 2018 Apprentice winner and fashion entrepreneur Sian Gabbidon. Leeds United players Tyler Roberts and Barry Douglas and the 'Leeds Warrior' featherweight boxing champion Josh Warrington.

2019 has been a special year for Simon on the Streets, as the it celebrated its 20th birthday. The charity provides both practical and emotional support for the homeless and in particular those with issues related to sleeping rough. Its work across Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield has had an immensely positive impact on Yorkshire’s homeless since they began back in 1999.

Eric Richardson, Simon on the Streets CEO, said: “Christmas is known as a magical time of year but for those on the streets it can be particularly difficult, so we really appreciate the support from Accent Clothing and Nobis through their fundraising event. We’d also like to thank the guests who attended and helped collect hundreds of coats for those in need.”
