Jourdan Groves, 29, rescued Bobby in August 2014.

Ever since, Jourdan said he has been 'the life and soul of the family' and his 'best pal'.

However, on Sunday night while out on a walk Bobby suddenly dropped to the floor and started dragging his back legs behind him.

After Jourdan rushed him to the vets, he was told Bobby needed a CT scan to assess the problem.

Vets now believe Bobby has suffered a slipped or broken disc which is putting pressure on his fine.

Surgery is expected to cost at leas £1,700 - a figure Jourdan said is not achievable since he has been unable to work due to the coronavirus.

Jourdan has now launched a fundraiser to try and save Bobby's life on GoFundMe.

He told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "He has got me through some really hard times.

"He is amazing with kids and other animals, a real gentle giant!

"Until I can raise the funds, he is in pain dragging his back end around."
