More than 50 service personnel came to Leeds today (November 1) to join forces with veterans and volunteers in one of the biggest street cash collections of its kind in Europe, raising money for The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

During Leeds City Poppy Day, collectors visited the train station as well as shops and offices across the city to raise money for the appeal.

Judith Reay, senior community fundraising manager for the Poppy Appeal, said, “The support in Leeds is always incredible and it’s great to see so many people wearing their poppies with pride this year, knowing the money they donate makes a huge difference to the lives of so many people in the city’s Armed Forces community.

The event organised by the Royal British Legion involved members of the RAF and army personnel all supporting the 2022 Poppy Appeal by selling poppies in uniform across Leeds. Pictured is Jack Tillett, from 90 Signals Unit, based at RAF Leeming, collecting around Wellington Place.
