The five most deprived areas of the city were Harehills South, Cross Flatts Park and Garnets, Burmantofts, Seacroft North and Monkswood, and Belle Isle North. All of the most deprived areas in Leeds have become less deprived than in 2011.

The census classifies households in terms of four different dimensions of deprivation, including whether a household member is unemployed or long-term sick, or households where no person has more than five GCSEs.
