A six-year-old boy will be walking 64 miles throughout May to raise funds for Mind charity in honour of a family friend.

Cody Parker will be walking 64 miles to raise funds for MIND charity by joining the May Anyway Challenge.

Cody was due to take part in the Junior Total Warrior challenge, which under the circumstances, had to be cancelled.

Family and friends of Cody have been coming together over the years to raise funds for MIND due to them being close to their hearts.

He was inspired by seeing the efforts of other children fundraising across the country and decided he could also help.

Lynn Duffy, Cody's nan, said: "He is such a generous and loving child he always wants to help people and always does what he can to help others.

Cody, from Cross Gates, will be beginning the challenge today (Monday) and will be recording his miles using a fitbit.

He has already raised hundreds for the charity with the family all supporting him.
