The funeral cortege for Leeds ice cream man 'Kooler Bar' will travel down part of his old ice cream route.

John Collier's family would like "well-wishers and friends to pay their respects" down Chapeltown Road from 2pm on Wednesday, June 23.

It follows a private family mass beforehand.

John Collier mainly drove around the Harehills, Chapeltown and Scott Hall areas but also used to serve ice creams at weddings, parties and for companies.

He died aged 76 on June 7 following a long battle with lung condition pulmonary fibrosis - and thousands of Leeds residents took to social media to pay their respects.

The ice cream man's family have described him as a "popular and legendary ice cream man in the Chapeltown area for over 40 years and a kind-hearted, well respected friend to many".

John was a "dearly loved" father to Louisa, Jon-Paul and Ferrari, a grandad to Bella and Poppy and also a brother and father in law.

The family have said they "greatly appreciate the warm and heartfelt tributes that have been paid to John."

They added that he will be "loved and remembered every day."

The full funeral announcement from his family said: "Collier, John Michael, "Kooler Bar".

"Passed away peacefully on Monday, June 7 at St James' Hospital with loved ones by his side.

"He was a popular and legendary ice cream man in the Chapeltown area for over 40 years and a kind-hearted, well respected friend to many.

"Dearly loved father to Louisa, Jon-Paul and Ferrari, brother, father-in-law and grandad to Bella and Poppy.

"A private family Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 23.

"The funeral cortege will proceed down Chapeltown road from 2pm.

"The family greatly appreciate the warm and heartfelt tributes that have been paid to John and would like well-wishers and friends to pay their respects as the cortege travels down part of his old ice cream route.

"Rest in peace.

"You will be loved and remembered every day."
