Donna Binns, 49, took part in the charity shave on Saturday, October 17 at her home in Garforth after changing coronavirus restrictions meant she was unable to go ahead with plans to do it at The Gaping Goose.

Donna, who works for the Bridge Care Company to support young adults with autism, said she was thrilled as she raised more than £1,000 for Macmillian.

"I felt very emotional on the day because of all the support from work and family.

"I used to be a palliative carer and worked side by side with Macmillan nurses.

"I also had cancer myself when I was a young woman and the Macmillan staff are invaluable in supporting people."

Donna said she is still getting used to having a shaved head but joked that her husband enjoyed shaving it.

She said: "My husband enjoyed shaving my head.

"I have been told it suits me but I think I will grow it back.

"People's reactions when we are out are quite unusual and some have laughed but others have smiled."
