An email confirming booking for a comedy gig at Leeds Town Hall has caused confusion among Leeds residents this evening.

People have taken to social media to report receiving the email, which appears to be from Leeds Town Hall, despite not booking tickets for the show.

The email confirms booking to the Daniel Sloss comedy gig at the venue on Friday at 6pm.

It reads: "We are delighted to welcome you to Daniel Sloss: HUBRIS on Friday 28 May, 6pm.

"A range of COVID-secure measures are in place within our venue, to find out more about these measures please read on or visit the coronavirus information page on our website."

It contains additional information about the event, including Covid safety measures and travel advice.

The end of the email reads: "You have received this email because you asked for updates from Leeds Town Hall.

"If you no longer want to receive these updates you can unsubscribe."

Residents have taken to social media to warn others of the email.

One Twitter user said: "Seems I'm not the only person who got an unexpected email from Leeds Town Hall inviting me to a Daniel Sloss show for no reason. What's going on?"

Another added: "The last time I purchased tickets for Leeds Town Hall or a council event was over eight years ago!"
