But a message posted on The Beehive's facebook page reveals the Horsforth-born chef has stepped back from the business.

Matt said: “It’s been a pleasure to get The Beehive back up and running again. It’s a piece of history when it comes to the Leeds pub scene and I’m happy we’ve been able to give it another lease of life. But it’s now time to let the team take the full reigns as I step back, along with my business partner Marc Cunliffe, to focus on Matt Healy x The Foundry and our on-going Grön Kafés expansion across the North.

Matt added: “You don’t know what’s around the corner and we may work together again in the future. I wish The Beehive every success and will be popping in for a pint or two.”

The post on The Beehive's facebook page reads: "We have appreciated all the support from Thorner locals and the surrounding area since we opened last year under the new management of Matt Healy and his team. The recent expansion of his Scandinavian café business Grön Kafé in York and Leeds, and the fresh changes at Matt Healy x The Foundry, have led Matt to make the decision to leave the Beehive.

"We’re really excited for this next chapter of The Beehive. We’re embracing the Gastropub label, serving fantastic quality plates and providing a great places for locals and those from further afield to enjoy. We look forward to welcoming you to The Beehive soon."
