While the centre in Morley has been closed to visitors since last March, volunteers and staff have continued to care for cats in need, ensuring they are happy, healthy and ready for rehoming, before waving them off as they go to their new forever homes.

The free open day will offer a virtual tour, along with insights into a day in the life of the adoption centre, showing the types of roles carried out by staff and those who dedicate their free time to volunteering.

The centre’s Facebook page will play host to the open day, with events such as a quiz and talks on stray cats and volunteering for the charity timetabled between 10am-2.30pm.

There will also be the chance to hear heart-warming stories about hand-rearing kittens.

There will be the opportunity to see some of the cats in care that are currently looking for new homes, and learn what kind of environment would suit them.

There will also be pets "waiting to catch the eye of anyone pondering that their future could include a cat", the team said.

A raffle will also be drawn, with prizes including a hamper and a cat-themed door wreath, with money raised going towards helping the unwanted cats and kittens who are helped by the centre.
