Armley Town Street has long been the beating heart of the LS12 community, despite it’s ‘reputation’.
But as part of our recent In Your Corner feature, we spent time speaking to the residents, business owners, and local champions who know the area inside out, discussing both the challenges the high street faces and the undeniable community spirit that keeps the suburb moving forward.
While our in-depth article gave a voice to the locals fighting for its future, we also wanted to document the sights of the high street as it stands today.
From the striking remnants of its Victorian architecture and enduring independent businesses to the familiar hustle and bustle of daily shoppers, Town Street remains a bustling focal point for everyone who calls this part of the city home.
Here are eight stunning images captured by Yorkshire Evening Post photographer James Hardisty that illustrate the everyday character of Armley Town Street.
